UPDATE 2015!

Sorry, I have been really lazy to update this blog. A few references from students this year :-)

(Angélica´s comment: He is crazy!)

Angélica is an excellent teacher who clearly takes time to prepare her lessons and ensure you get the best experience possible. Lessons were a mix of exercises and she will always challenge you to improve and give you the space to experiment and get things wrong. While happy to prepare classes herself she is also prepared to be flexible and work in areas that you may particularly wish to focus on. She was tremendous fun to spend time a couple of hours a day with and, in fact, her lessons were so good that we changed our plans so we could return to Bogotá and do further classes with her. We can't recommend her highly enough.

Cinco pelos!

Being an absolute beginner, I had warned Angélica that her hands would be full. She was up to the challenge and demonstrated incredible patience with me. From helping me with vocabulary, to understanding the structure of irregular verbs and sentence structure. She tought me how the basics of the language worked. Armed with this knowledge, I am now able to comprehend what is being said and written, I am a bit slow at it but I feel she provided me a very solid foundation that I can build on.

Angelica is a true professional, her teaching style is classical with lots of supporting materials. I am looking forward to my next trip to Colombia and continuing my Spanish lessons…and other fun things such as salsa dancing, hiking in the mountains and eating bocadillo, mazorca and other tasty treats."

I am so thankful I found a great teacher in Colombia. She´s a great cook too! Demand her to prepare a vegetarian meal for you when in Villa. I hope I can go back again to Colombia soon to continue my studies with her. Cheers!

HAppY 2015!

I am so grateful to the wonderful year that was 2014. Many students, many experiences, many new friends around the world! This is an Update of the recommendations made by students this year:

Delicious Afternoon Tea Cafe.
Great place for 4 hour lessons!
Angélica is quite possibly the best Spanish teacher in Colombia. I searched extensively to find the highest caliber of Spanish teacher, and that is exactly what I was able to find in Angélica.  Her education, certification, and experience make her acutely able to understand what level of Spanish I am on, and provide me with the tools necessary to take it to the next level. She pinpointed exactly what I needed and created a plan, provided exercises and cheat sheets to directly improve in the areas that I needed it. She is very friendly, supportive and patient. I always felt extremely comfortable and unintimidated working with her. I recommend Angélica enthusiastically and without reservation. It is a privilege to recommend her to others.

Angélica Was a great help in guiding my spanish studies while in Bogotá by providing me with excercises outside of the classes to continue practicing as well as informative lessons that helped to identify areas of improvement and provide advice to work on these areas. She was patient with the learning process and free to answer questions through email outside of the lesson time, as well as being quick in responding when I first got into contact with her. Something that actually seemed to be a struggle in Bogota; getting into contact with private tutors. It was also very convenient having her as a tutor because she would come to my house at no extra charge, just saying that she liked working around the city, something which in Bogotá can take several hours. For the price as well, her lessons were a very good value compared to what I saw form the language schools in the city and my experience with them throughout South América.
Overall I had a great time learning with her and came out with an improved spanish.

Gracias,

It was my pleasure to have a teacher like Angelica. After time with other expensive so called recognized systems of learning. Angelica's system advanced me like no other. Thank you Angelica.

To be honest...I didn't want to recommend Angélica to anybody! But I believe it's not fair for all people looking for Spanish Teacher. So I say...Highly Recommend her!
Before I came in Bogotá, I studied Spanish at language school in Barcelona for a month. But it was really tough for me. I couldn't understand what teacher told us about. I was the only one Asian at school. When I found Angélica, I was so excited!! She has experience living in Japan for a while, and traveled around many Asian countries. She knows what is the best to learn for Asian people! I believe.
Obviously, my Spanish is getting better. We reviewed I've already studied in Barcelona. There were a lot of things which I couldn't understand at school!! I didn't even notice about it! She asked me to talk Spanish even I couldn't. She gave me some assignments and tests which I definitely needed.I took her classes every 2 hours, 3 or 4 times in a week almost for a month. Definitely it worth it. Also it was fun to have delicious sweets every time:D (muy muy peligroso...jajaja) Angélica! Gracias!

I met Angelica while traveling traveling last year (2014). I came across her email and she was able to set up a week of spanish lessons while i was passing through Villa de Leyva, one of my favorite towns in Colombia. It was great, in just one week I could tell i was improving.  My only regret is that i didnt have time for more lessons. It was really the ideal situation for learning spanish - awesome lady, cool town, one-on-one conversational approach and a cool, creative lesson plan. I need to go back and take lessons for a full month, or two or three.  I highly recommend her.

'I was fortunate enough to find Angelica and my Spanish has rapidly improved as a result of her classes. She was able to quickly gauge my level and choose what level of material was appropriate for me. The classes did not feel like classes, more like a conversation mixed with some exercises, but I was learning all the time. I would highly recommend Angelica as a Spanish teacher for all levels.'

Angelica was, as her name suggests, an absolute angel of a person. She always put a lot of thought into the preparation she made for our classes, which were always based on what I wanted to get out of our time together. I always felt that she genuinely wanted me to improve and that it was more than just a job to her. She was always happy and cheerful (except when I was late ;) and even brought me chocolate for each class. Needless to say, I could not possibly recommend her and her classes any more highly. Feel free to reference her using markcpeacock@yahoo.com

Angelica is a fantastic Spanish teacher. All classes are tailored to your needs, and she really makes a huge effort to try and make the classes enjoyable for the student.Classes are always really well prepared, with a good balance between essential grammar, and conversation. Not only are the classes really well structured, but  always interesting, and Angelica is really easy to get along with. My Spanish definitely improved during my time taking classes with Angelica. I´ve had classes with various Spanish teachers, and it´s virtually impossible to find a teacher as good as her.

Angelica is a wonderful and dedicated teacher. She came to each lesson very prepared to tailor it to my level and needs, and was very responsive to any requests I had in terms of material or goals. She did a great job of including a variety of activities throughout the lesson so that it was engaging and fun with opportunities to learn and practice in many ways (for instance, often using pictures, stories and audios as well as of course exercises and grammar.) Each lesson had a good balance of speaking, reading, listening and writing. Even in a four-hour class, I was never bored! She was very accommodating of my inconsistent schedule in terms of scheduling lessons at times and places which were convenient for me, which I really appreciated, especially because it meant I was able to continue with lessons even when I started working. She was always ready to give me more material to push me to improve, but was also understanding when I needed more time to review or had less time at home to practice. I felt that she truly cared about my development in learning Spanish (as well as my experience in Bogota overall) and became a friend as well as a teacher. I'm grateful to have found her and would recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking to improve their Spanish for any period of time while in Bogota.
